Mountain Contemporary Dance Arts (MCDA) in Louisville, CO offers a wide range of dance classes and ballet classes for children ages 2 to teens. MCDA is the place for family education in dance in Boulder County, Colorado!

Toddlers & Preschool
Dance With Me (ages 18 months-3): Our youngest dancers with explore music and movement with their caregivers in this energetic and nurturing class.
Little Movers (ages 2.5-3.5): Toddler Dancers will explore movement concepts that help lay the foundation for expression, physical development, and body/mind connections. Props and creative games are part of this fun-filled class.
Creative Ballet / Rainbow Rider Gymnastics (ages 3-4): This ballet class for preschoolers will introduce your artist and athlete to the benefits of dance and gymnastics. Using creative ballet dance technique as a foundation, dancers will develop dance skills through creative games based on the movement principles of time, space and energy.
Hip Hop/Rainbow Rider Gymnastics (ages 3-4): This hip hop class for preschoolers will introduce your artist and athlete to the benefits of dance and gymnastics. Using creative hip hop dance technique as a foundation, dancers will develop dance skills through creative games based on the movement principles of time, space and energy.
Storybook Ballet / Tap (ages 3-5): Dancers will be introduced to ballet and tap through a variety of stories, fairytales and fables each session. This is the perfect class for imaginative and creative dancers.
Storybook Jazz/Hip Hop/Tap (ages 3-5): Dancers will be introduced to rhythm, athleticism and groove through a variety of stories, fairytales, and fables each session. This is the perfect class for creative, energetic and free style dancers.

Kids Dance (5-13)
Jazz (ages 5+): A theatrical style, jazz uses stylized footwork, leaps and turns in rhythmic combinations. More lyrical and percussive styles of movement and pop music will be included in this class.
Contemporary / Modern (ages 5+): A technique based in discovery and individuality, contemporary/modern focuses on development through the movement fundamentals of time, space and energy. Partnering, floor work, improvisation and composition are included in the class.
Hip Hop and Breakin’ (ages 5+): A social dance technique that includes dynamic footwork, funk styles (such as locking and popping), b-boying and b-girling (footwork, freezes, power moves, top rock) . Rhythm, community building and individual style are developed in this fun-filled class.
Musical Theatre (ages 8+): The perfect class for the natural performer in your family. Dancers will explore dance technique, theatricality, and musicality through songs from popular musicals and films.
Tap Dance (ages 5+): A style of dance that uses footwork and sound to create percussive relationships with music. A variety of tap styles, including hoofing and “Broadway” styles of tap will be introduced in the tap coursework.
Acro for Dancers (special workshops): For the dancer that loves to go upside down. In this class your dancer will work on acrobatic and tumbling skills such as walk-overs, handsprings and dance “tricks”. Strength and flexibility exercises will also be including in the course curriculum.
MADE Performance Company (ages 8+): Does your dancer have the passion for excelling further in the art of dance? Dancers will learn choreography in a range of styles and develop performance skills such as: focus, dynamics, theatricality, which will enable them to be more versatile and expressive performers. Dancers will have the opportunity to perform throughout the season in this special company.

Teen Dance (13+)

Contemporary Ballet/Pointe/Pre-Pointe: Our contemporary ballet and pointe course is designed for experienced ballet students interested in accelerating their ballet training. Classical ballet technique with be blended with contemporary ballet choreography and stylization. Pre-pointe and pointe work will incorporate somatic principles and detailed skill development to build healthy alignment and strength. Any student interested in pre-pointe and pointe must have an assessment and approval from the MCDA director before participating.

Student Dance Company
M.A.D.E (Mountain Arts Dance Ensemble) is MCDA’s resident student dance ensemble. MCDA is dedicated to providing a professional atmosphere for our performance company that puts your dancer’s artistic expression first. Our company members learn about the art of collegiate and professional concert dance, health, friendship, creativity, team work, and life skills that they will carry with them long after the applause subsides.

Adult Dance

Ballet for Babywearers:
Ballet for Babywearers is a ballet class for any level of dance experience and anyone interested in class is encouraged to try it! This is a 1 hour and 15 minute long dance class designed for caregivers to be able to enjoy a ballet class with their baby. In this class we will focus on strength, alignment, musicality, and core stability through proper technique at the barre and modified center exercises, all while enhancing our bond with baby through babywearing.
Comfortable athletic wear, yoga or dance attire with bare feet, socks or ballet slippers (whatever the dancer is most comfortable in). Carriers/carries that allow for a tummy to tummy hold or a back carry are required, neither cradle hold nor a forward facing carry is recommended for this class.
Contemporary / Modern Dance: A technique based in discovery and individuality, contemporary/modern focuses on development through the movement fundamentals of time, space and energy. Partnering, floor work, improvisation and composition are included in the class.
Hip Hop: This high energy, social dance technique class includes rhythmic footwork, isolations, funk styles and fun choreography. Rhythm, community building and individual style are developed in this fun class. Comfortable movement clothing and clean sneakers are recommended.
