Anyone who’s had a preschooler knows how quickly they seem to grow up, and how much they learn in such a short period of time. Every time you blink, they seem to have picked up a new word or skill.

The craziest part is, we don’t even know the half of it!

Preschoolers’ brains go through a huge growth spurt — so big, in fact, that 90-95% of their brain cells are creating pathways at once.

This means that from age 3-5 kids are exceptionally absorbent. For example, you may have noticed the last time your preschooler immediately picked up a curse word when you stubbed your toe.

Their keenness to learn from their environment at this age makes it a great time to enable them to build upon the necessary skills to help them thrive:

  • Cognitive abilities
  • Motor skills
  • Communication
  • Emotional intelligence

Before you go down the Pinterest hole searching for activities to help your child with these processes, let us save you some time with a one-stop shop: classes at Mountain Kids Louisville.

NinjaZone Classes

NinjaZone combines martial arts, gymnastics and freestyle movement. That means your child gets the ultimate combination of coordination, problem solving, and creativity, along with plenty of physical activity!

You can put your fears to rest if you think your child may be a little too small for parkour. We acknowledge that the needs of different age groups vary greatly and have created safe and relevant NinjaZone curriculums for all of them.

Preschoolers are divided into 2 age groups: 3-4 and 4-5. The 3-4 age group, also known as Lil’Ninjas, focuses on fun activities to teach your child good listening skills, healthy risk taking, manners, and patience.

After age 4, children get the opportunity to “level up” to the White level. Here, they engage in more physical training with things like safe landings, vaulting, and wall and bar progressions.

The NinjaZone gym provides a much safer environment than their preschool playground for them to try out those superhero skills their vibrant imaginations dream of having.

Dance Classes

Regardless of whether you think you can keep the beat, studies have found that dancing comes naturally to humans from infancy. There’s something about the rhythmic ebb and flow of music that makes us instinctively want to sway along.

Dancing has more benefits than just being a fun way to stay active. The motion of it combined with the stimulation of music creates a magical mixture of perks perfect for your preschooler’s brain development:

  • Improved balance and coordination
  • Developing the ability to healthily express emotions
  • Improves teamwork and social skills

There are a few different options for dance classes for your preschooler at Mountain Kids:

Little Movers is for ages 2.5-3.5. Children use props and fun games to learn the fundamentals of movement and teamwork.

Creative Ballet and Creative Hip Hop is for preschoolers age 3-4 and combines gymnastics and dance to help you children build coordination.

Storybook Tap and Storybook Jazz introduce children to the genre of your choice through enchanting fairy tales and fables. They can let their imaginations run wild while enjoying the fun of dance.

Gymnastics Classes

What child doesn’t love to tumble, jump and get upside down? Perhaps that’s why gymnastics is a hit for all ages.

Rainbow Riders, our gymnastics class for preschoolers, is the ideal way to help kids build their brains and have a blast while doing it.

Perks of the Rainbow Riders curriculum include:

  • Better coordination and strength leading to less accidental falls and injuries
  • Patience
  • Creative outlet
  • Social skills
  • Better self-esteem

Getting a little jealous of all the fun and benefits your child can glean from our classes? We encourage parents to take a class with their child for some added bonding and a bit more fun than your neighborhood gym.

Kids grow up fast, and it’s important to take advantage of this crucial stage of learning to help them become more resilient and ready to keep learning.
